Three important flyovers like Pantheon Road flyover at Egmore, G.K. Moopanar flyover at Alwarpet and Sardar Patel Road flyover at Adyar would look different in the future!!

Greater Chennai Corporation or GCC has invited private consultants to prepare detailed project reports or DPR for 3 flyovers belonging to Chennai. These flyovers would get make overs soon. Under the Singara Chennai 2.0 programme, these make-over projects would be taken up.

As per an officer belonging to GCC it was very clear that all components would be decided after DPR gets finalised. It is well known that there are empty spaces under these flyovers and it is now said that these empty spaces would be beautified with dynamic lighting setups and greenery.

It is learnt that the civic body is now waiting for no objection certificate from PWD to build a flyover along the Virugambakkam Canal connecting Kannan Nagar and Kaliamman Koil Street. Several months back itself the GCC completed DPR for the flyover.

The official later spoke about how constructing bridges across Buckingham Canal connecting OMR and ECR could become unviable. This was due to the fact that works could not be carried out without acquiring private lands as the norms do not allow carry out works with the available lands &
